每個家長都想自己的小朋友學好英文,孩子在年紀小的時候,如果能好好掌握英文併音的方法,以後對於學習英文會很快上手,之後再也不用擔心小朋友升上小學後應付不了英文功課、默書和測考,甚至無用經常掛心為小朋友找英文補習老師。 我認為要在小朋友二至五歲時教好他們英文併音,最好的老師只有一個,就是媽媽,所以想分享一下我在家中教女兒的經驗,希望大家也可以和我一樣,教好自己小朋友的英文併音之餘還可以享受親子的樂趣!

很開心見到這個topic還有被人UP 起來!
我大女兒剛5歲了,與我初在此topic分享有關letterland時足有兩年。
這兩年中她的英文在reading方面進步最大,現在已開始看一些age 6-9的children friction,她剛開始看這本 :

現在與她一起看英文書,最令我歡喜又害怕的是她經常可以很快的聽出我讀錯的字,並像個老師一樣要我跟她讀一次來糾正我!
不過我其實並不是把letterland完全教完的,可以話Stage 2大部份都未講過,只是常見的、或她問到的,我才會講(因為懶... )以往買了很多很多也很貴有關letterland的其他書、activity books、game cards都係差不多無用過。我想當時都是買得太瘋狂了!
我想兩年後我的分享是:
[size=small]Letterland is a good start for children to learn English, using letterland as a door to help children to walk in the English world, the important part is YOU walk with him/her in the very begining, once they tase the happiness of reading, they can walk by themself!

各位剛起步的家長,努力呀!最緊要係同小朋友一起學,只買teacher's guide就夠了!我想沒有一間centre會比自已媽媽教得好的,因為只有媽媽才有『愛』,小朋友才會更喜歡letterland的!

我都有用DWE,我覺得兩者是不怕混淆的,因為letterland多數用在同小朋友一齊reading上,或或有時當講故事o甘,只不過唔係講story book係講letterland的拼音事。
但DWE可以當你不在家時,或你不得閒時播比佢聽同看,所以唔同o羅。
其實jolly phonics是用一些動作來令小朋友記得佢programme中7組拼音:

每一個letter sound, blend或phonemes都有一個動作教小朋友,等佢o地一看到個word時,就可以有即時的反應,想起動作,及連帶的發音。久而久之動作都可以唔洗做出來就可以即時拼到個字點讀了。
所以我想好多kindergarten都用jolly phonics的原因,是收效比較快同大,一班小朋友一齊做動作,真係好有趣同開心,好快小朋友就會記得o的動作同發音,一邊做一邊拼,又係幾有趣。而且 在jolly o個7組拼音中,已包括了所有letter sound及最常用的組合,小朋友開始reading時,一般beginner level都應沒有甚麼問題的,好快可以catch up到reading skills,自自然然會喜歡reading及解決到其他問題的。
不過letterland是比較複雜,2個level的programme包含的拼音故事多過一百個,programme 1有75張 code card,programme2有85張code card。不過我都是選教一些基本的同常用的:
letter sound:1-z
long vowel sound:a,e,i,o,u
consonant digraphs:sh,th,wh,ch
vowel consonant diagraphs:ce,ci,cy、ge,gi,gy、dge,age
consonant digraphs & silent letters:ch,ph,wh,gh,igh、kn,mb,wr,mn,que
及magic endings:e,ed,ing, -an,-est,-er,-y,-le
有一些我都是未教o架!
但letterland係延展性比較大,好多時小朋友問『點解』在letterland的世界,就可以滿足到佢, letterland中,絕大部份(當然不是所有,因為有一些英文字是外語借用過來的)的字,都可以用故事解譯到點解le個字係o甘拼,點解o個個字又o 甘讀,但係用其他的方法就好難可以解譯到了。至於講到是不是所有故事都作得o甘好,或適用,我個人認為還是可以取捨的,所以我都係用letterland 來做trunk,遇然也加入一下其他有趣的方法(例如之前提過的between the lions)。

如果比我再選,我都係用letterland,因為延續性大好多,我無比我個女去過任何一個letterland的centre度學phonics,大部份都係我自己教佢的,有些是佢問起我,我就用letterland來解譯。
不過我個女間kindergarten都係用letterland,但由於佢係K1,教的只是early years的課程,我女未入學已經識左,不過同學及老師都知letterland係o羊會令佢更喜歡letterland。
如果你想send小朋友去centre學phonics,用jolly phonics或其他的成效相信會唔錯,但係如果用letterland,可能需要長些的時間,效果可能唔係好快見到,我始終覺得letterland適 合媽媽同小朋友做home schooling多些。希望我的個人意見幫到你。

都唔係呀,其實我個女6個月前都係同你仔仔差不多o乍,但係我都唔知點解佢自己會進步神速,我都唔係好勤力同佢看書,只係好勤力買書 因為成日看你o地o的post忍唔住麻! 家裡的VCD、DVD都係亂o甘播比佢看(因為印印都係亂來的)但係佢自己可能找到看書的樂趣,我又成日在家扮看圖書,一邊看一邊笑下、扮讀下o甘(其實我係扮下o野引佢)等佢摸仿我(因為佢好鐘意扮我的。
我都係因為復活節大執書時,將之前買的OST都唔理o甘多放o西出來,先知原來佢識睇o乍。
所以我想唔o西太刻意o卦,開o左個頭佢o地小朋友會自己跟住去o架啦,因為求知慾其實係小朋友的其中一種好大的需要來o麻。
其實我在letterland好耐無發言了,因為除了好忙之外,是我自己都有一些關於letterland的問題未解決到(其中一個問題,是510問過的 關於annie apple發音的問題),不過我個女間幼稚園上兩個月搞o左四堂免費letterland parents course,係學校個鬼婆教,我將我心裡的問題都問過佢之後,我就安落好多,所以夠膽再在le度講下o野lu
我programme two自己就看完了,但係我會取捨一些topics未必用letterland的方法教,因為講真,有某一些故事好似jokey所講,都係幾『監梗』的。

佢現在看ORT已經看到stage 9,唔係我讀的,是佢自己看完再用廣東話講番個故事我聽,佢重好喜歡一邊看,一邊read -aloud,雖然有些字她未必明o西,也有些拼錯音,不過我都覺得好開心。
所以我覺得對letterland的用處已經唔用再懷疑了。
可能一個programme未必適合每一個小朋友,但係就好適合我個女了。

Happy to hear your good news in using Letterland, my daughter Phoebe have great improvement too!
The teachers in the kindergarten tell me they don't know Phoebe knows how to read-aloud (she can read out words but most of the time she don't know the meaning).
But one day they saw her holding a card and whispering, then one of the teacher walk near her and listen what her's whispering about. They surprise to find that she is holding a card( i don't know what's it) to read.
I think she feels happy that she can read-aloud english that make her with a kind of confidence in learning english and reading english story books too.

In my opinion, those phonically difficult words are explained in Programme 2 "oo" sound and "ea" sound "e" short sound and "e" long sound, I would have a jump to tell the story about these word in order to explain these words.
In the view of children they won't know which part should be learn first and which parts are in Programme 2, so they are just some funny stories, it won't make any different to them.
BTW, when I taught about [size=medium]"when two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking" to my daughter, I use the Between the Lions songs to explain it, and it wonderful, please note the following link:

I have one question. if our kids is in traditional school their dictation does not follow the level of phonic they have taught. They would have to dictate phonically difficult words like 'foot', 'teach'.

What you suggest if he come across phonically difficult word that he has to dictate? How i can taught him to dictate such words?
